Traditionally to make a website without using code you would have to use a drag-and-drop tool like Elementor.
But now you can do most of the heavy lifting with AI.
AI is so powerful that it can create an entire website based on one single prompt – the description of your online business.
Here’s how.
How to make a website with AI
The tools that we’re going to use to create a website entirely with AI are Durable, Midjourney, and ChatGPT.
Durable is an AI website builder that generates fully designed websites with copy, images, SEO, and a contact form in under 30 seconds.
ChatGPT is an AI chatbot that will help us generate text for specific pages of our website.
We’ll use Midjourney AI to generate custom images for our new website.
Here’s how to do it.
1. Go to Durable and enter business type
When you go to Durable the first thing that it’s going to ask you is what type of online business are you creating.
If you’re still not sure about your business idea you can click “see some suggestions” and AI will help you come up with the type for your website.
2. Come up with a business name or ask aI
Next, you’re going to have to come up with the business name that you’ll use for your website.
If you find it hard to come up with a business name you can use ChatGPT to help you out.
Of course, you can also use Durbale’s built-in AI suggestions.
Here’s a simple ChatGPT prompt you could try:
3. Let AI generate a website for you
And you’re done!
Durable’s AI will generate an entirely unique website with its own homepage and contact page using the information that you provided.
Isn’t that crazy?
The whole process took me under 1 minute and I had the barebones of my new website.
But, of course, it needs some improvements.
4. Customize website
From here there are 3 things that you can do to make your site instantly better:
- Regenerate sections (or entire website)
- Edit sections
- Add pages
1. Regenerate sections
If you don’t like how AI generated your website you can simply tell it to do it again, and again, and again until you’re satisfied with the look.
The same goes for each section.
Just click regenerate and watch it rework how your site looks.
2. Edit secionts
If you click on any one section you’ll be able to choose the pen icon and fully customize it yourself.
Since Durable’s AI usually generates general images it’s a good idea to add custom ones to make your site feel more personal.
You can generate custom images with Midjourney or simply get a high-quality one from a stock photo website like Shutterstock.
3. Add pages
I asked ChatGPT about what are the main pages that an online business website should have. Here’s what it came up with:
An online business website should typically include the following main pages:
- Home Page: The main landing page that provides an overview of your business, showcases key products or services, and encourages visitors to explore further.
- About Us: This page provides information about your business, its mission, values, history, team members, and any unique selling propositions that set you apart from competitors.
- Products/Services: This page displays detailed information about the digital products, such as Notion templates and guides, that you offer for sale. Include descriptions, features, pricing, and any special offers or bundles available.
- Testimonials/Reviews: A page dedicated to showcasing positive customer testimonials and reviews can help build trust and credibility for your business.
- FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions page where you address common queries and provide helpful answers regarding your products, purchasing process, returns, and any other relevant topics.
- Blog/Resource Center: A section where you can share informative articles, guides, tips, and other valuable content. This helps your site rank on search engines (like Google), attract visitors, establish your expertise, and engage with your audience.
- Contact Us: A page that includes your contact information, such as email address, phone number, and social media links. You may also consider including a contact form to make it easy for visitors to reach out with inquiries or support requests.
- Privacy Policy: Essential for compliance with data protection regulations, this page outlines how you handle user data, including information collected during purchases or through contact forms.
- Terms of Service: A page that outlines the terms and conditions that govern the use of your website and the purchase of your products. It covers important legal aspects such as intellectual property rights, licensing, refunds, and disclaimers.
- Store/Shop: This is where visitors can browse and purchase your products directly. It should be user-friendly, with clear product descriptions, pricing, and an easy-to-use checkout process.
You can add custom pages within Durable by clicking the plus icon in the menu bar next to the “Home” page.
5. Generate SEO using AI
Every site needs SEO.
SEO helps your site rank on Google or other search engines and attract organic traffic.
Luckily you can generate your website’s SEO with AI.
Exit the website editor and go to your Durable dashboard. Choose Website -> SEO -> Generate SEO.
This will automatically generate SEO for your website based on the type of business that you specified.
6. Set up a custom domain
To publish a website you’ll need a domain name.
Durable will give you a custom domain, or, if you want, you can get it through a third party like Namecheap.
To add a custom domain, go to your Durable dashboard -> choose website -> settings -> domain.
Here you’ll be able to purchase a domain through Durable or connect an existing domain.
While you’re here, also make sure to enable search indexing so that your website could be discoverable through search engines.
7. Publish your Website
To publish your AI-generated website go to Durable dashboard -> website -> settings -> and change the status to “public”.
Hurray! You’ve made a custom site with AI.
Of course, you’ll still have to customize it yourself but the bulk of the work is already done.
Durable pricing
Durable has 2 pricing plans – Starter and Business.
The Starter plan is perfect if you’re building your first website for your online business or side hustle.
The Business plan is best for already existing businesses and it offers slightly more functionality all across the board including a premium custom domain name and priority customer support.
What's the cheapest way to make a website?
You could make a free website using Notion but it wouldn’t really be a full website, rather just a notion page that everyone can access.
All other options cost money.
Essentially, every website needs 2 things to live on the internet – a hosting provider and a domain name.
The cheapest way to host your website is through Hostinger and the cheapest domain name registrar is Namecheap.
In fact, I use Hostinger to host this website. You can read my review about it here.
Also, if you’re thinking of starting a blog I recommend taking a look at my full guide about the best hosting providers for bloggers based on Reddit.
What's the best website builder?
If you’re not a programmer then you can build a website without 0 code by using a website-building tool.
Essentially, it lets you customize your site with drag-and-drop.
Here are the best tools to do that:
- Durable – build a website using only AI
- Elementor – build and host a WordPress website using drag and drop
- Shopify – build an e-commerce website
- Webflow – build a custom website using drag-and-drop (this may still require some knowledge of HTML and CSS)
- Google Sites – build a free website through Google
Was this guide about how to make a website using AI useful?
In short, you can use Durable to make a website using AI. First, input what your business is about and let AI generate your site. Then you can customize it by adding different pages or regenerating already existing sections. Use ChatGPT to generate copy and SEO descriptions for your website and Namecheap to get a custom domain. Then publish your AI-generated website to the internet.
