Writing takes time.

It’s so hard to come up with new ideas while staring at a blank page.

That’s where AI content generators like Rytr can help out.

Rytr can not only generate article outlines but also write full-fledged blog posts, emails, social media ads, and video scripts.

It’s crazy that AI can do this.

A couple of years ago when ChatGPT wasn’t a thing, you could only imagine the creative superpowers that generative AI could unlock.

But it’s here now. So why not use it?

Moreover, if your online business involves writing, then you know the importance of creating high-quality, engaging content fast.

So in this review, I want to highlight the key features of Rytr and paint a picture of how it compares to other AI writers out there so that you can choose the best one for you.

Rytr pros & cons at a glance:

Pros:

  • Extremely user-friendly and easy to use
  • Works for almost any type of copywriting
  • Can improve grammar and readability of text
  • Can expand or shorten the text
  • Can check for plagiarism
  • Gives you the ability to generate images with AI (this feature works surprisingly well)
  • Can generate text for a variety of cases
  • Has a free version
  • AI output is highly customizable

Cons:

  • It won’t generate perfect text every time and you’ll have to tweak it (but this is expected with most AI writers out there)
  • It can sometimes repeat itself
  • Generated text can feel a bit generic

What is Rytr AI?

Rytr is a content writing tool that generates text using AI.

It aims to help you create better, more engaging content faster.

Rytr does this by using natural language processing and machine learning to understand what makes good content.

And then it incorporates what it has learned from hundreds of thousands of trials to write the best possible content according to the given instructions.

Alongside generating new pieces of writing It can also provide suggestions on how to improve an already written piece of text whether it’d be paraphrasing, switching up sentence structure or simplifying the text.

Who is Rytr Suited For?

Before I tried out Rytr I decided to read a few reviews and I found a few that looked something like this:

Rytr Review

So I was curious if I would have the same experience with it.

And to my surprise, this review was on point. Rytr is the best tool for copywriting in a hurry.

If you have a blog or a YouTube channel and writing copy takes up a lot of your day-to-day time then having a content writer available at all times could come in handy.

Rytr won’t create a perfect blog post or a full essay like a human would.

Obviously.

Since it’s been trained on stuff that is already out there. Just like ChatGPT or other content generators.

So Rytr is best suited to be a companion and assist in writing.

I use it for getting rough outlines, ideas for blog posts, and cleaning up my already-written text.

Essentially using it as a creative assistant.

That’s what it’s best designed to do.

It’s also one of the best blogging tools that you can employ to help with SEO.

If you write blog posts then you know the importance of creating high-quality articles.

But those articles wouldn’t rank on Google if they weren’t keyword-rich.

So Rytr can also help with that.

In the copy section, I can choose the “Blog section writing”, tell it which topic I want it to generate my blog section about and include the target keywords that I want it to use.

How to generate SEO rich blog section with Rytr AI

I love the simplicity of it. Other AI Writers that have features dedicated to writing blog posts such as Copy.ai are designed more for teams and have various advanced features.

But Rytr is just simple to use.

Here are some other useful things that it can generate for you:

  • YouTube video descriptions
  • YouTube video ideas
  • Blog ideas and outlines
  • Call to actions
  • Cover letters
  • Facebook ad copy
  • Emails
  • Post and caption ideas
  • Interview questions
  • Product descriptions
  • SEO meta descriptions
  • Taglines and headlines

Of course, there’s a lot more.

Rytr themselves have already compiled a list of the best use cases for this tool on their website.

Free vs. Saver vs. Unlimited Plans

Rytr AI Pricing Plans

There are three plans:

Free – $0 per month.

Saver – $9 per month.

Unlimited – $29 per month.

The Free Plan:

Let’s you generate 10,000 characters per month (which is quite little):

  • 10,000 characters are reset every month.
  • If you’re only trying out the software then the free plan is going to be all that you need. With it, you’ll be able to see if it’s the right fit for you without a commitment.
  • What’s more, you can create additional accounts if you have an extra email, and the 10,000 monthly characters will become available again. But if you do so you’ll lose all of your files and projects that have been saved in your previous Rytr account.

The Saver Plan:

Lets you generate 100,000 characters per month.

  • The Saver plan is a budget-friendly option. It lets you generate a reasonable amount of text without feeling squeezed into the 10,000 characters of the free plan.
  • This plan is the best for writers who are sure they want to use AI to write copy but are not sure how much AI can help them. If you’re using AI just occasionally, to help expand, shorten or reword your text, then this plan is for you.

The Unlimited Plan:

  • Lets you access every available feature (more on those later).
  • Gives access to generate unlimited characters per month.
The unlimited plan is best for writers who can’t see themselves writing copy or generating ideas without the help of AI.

Rytr AI Top Features:

Here are the features that set Rytr AI apart from the competitors for me.

The following are some of the best:

1. Writing YouTube Video Descriptions & Video Ideas

If you’ve dabbled with making YouTube videos then you know how important the packaging is.

While Ryrt certainly can’t make you a thumbnail it can help with generating title ideas as well as SEO-optimized video descriptions.

When it comes to ranking on YouTube search the description plays a big role.

Especially the first few sentences.

You want to make sure that they include your target keyword as well as a few semantic keywords to go along with it.

Semantic keywords are keywords that are related to your target keyword.

The problem is that you have to do this for every single video to maximize the chances that that video ranks for YouTube search and gets consistent views over time.

Which takes time.

It’s a task that can be outsourced to AI and free up time to make more YouTube videos instead of having to fiddle with optimizing the description.

The good news is that Rytr AI can help generate all of it.

All that you have to do is give it the video title.

And if you don’t yet have a title, the “Video Idea” option will generate one based on your channel niche.

2. Writing Blog Ideas, Outlines And Sections

Rytr can come up with catchy blog, essay, and article topics as well as content structures using its AI writing assistant.

You give it the title and keywords you want to go for and relax as your blog section copy writes itself.

Of course, you’ll have to adjust the text once Rytr is finished but the best part is that now you don’t have to start by looking at a blank page.

Think of Rytr.me as an assistant and not as an employee who should give you a fully polished result.

Expect it to make mistakes but also to guide you into a direction that you told it you want to go and also bring some new ideas to the table.

That’s what it’s best at.

You’ll also notice that when you ask Rytr to generate a blog outline it automatically generates some keywords below each section of the generated blog post.

You could include these keywords in that section to optimize it for SEO.

Once Rytr generates an outline for your blog post you can select one of the pieces of text and click “Expand”.

It will then generate that blog section for you.

If you don’t like what it generated you can tell it to re-write it by clicking “Rephrase” at the top.

3. Writing Emails

Dealing with email is annoying.

For most solopreneurs, it’s a necessary evil but it takes up a lot of time.

And that’s where Rytr can also assist.

All you have to do is provide it with some key points, i.e. what roughly you want to put in your email and it will try to generate a ready-to-send version for you.

It won’t do it perfectly every time but you’ll have a barebones version that you can then tweak.

This is what Rytr generated after I asked it to write an email to Jessica refusing a collaboration request:

4. Chat feature

They recently introduced a chat feature which works similarly to the one you find when using ChatGPT.

You can essentially pick a tone that you want your text to be in and then ask it to write something. It will then figure out what it is and try to generate it.

I used the Rytr’s chat feature to generate a keyword-rich YouTube video description and it did a pretty decent job.

I would still have to tweak it, and make it less “corporate” sounding but at least I have a version that I can work with rather than having to come up with it completely from scratch:

5. Surprisingly good image generation feature

Images are important companions to text. Especially if you’re writing things like blog posts or newsletters (which Rytr can also generate).

And Rytr has an AI image generation feature.

So I asked it to create a banana with a white background that is drawn in a cartoon style with thick lines. I said that the banana should be a bright yellow color and there should be nothing else behind it.

Here’s the result:

6 Ability to see and restore history

One of the things that often saves me when writing is the ability to restore history.

I write a lot of YouTube video scrips in Google Docs and there were a lot of times when the history feature with the ability to restore previous versions saved my entire document.

And Rytr has it as well!

In the history tab, you can see your input to the AI, what it generated as well as how many credits it used.

You can also click “Ryte more like this” which will regenerate that prompt.

What Are The Cons of Rytr AI?

Of course, there are some cons to Rytr:

1. The AI generated text isn't without flaws

If you’re looking for a tool that will write perfect copy every single time then Rytr is not it.

It’s more of an assistant rather than a full-out writer.

It won’t generate perfect text every time and you’ll have to tweak its output.

But this should be expected with most AI writers out there.

So in terms of how it stands up against its competition (for example Copy.ai), I would say that Rytr is up to par.

Of course, it can sometimes repeat itself, and the text it creates can feel generic.

But it fulfils its job as a writing assistant more than well enough.

Also, a faulty generation can be due to the prompt that Rytr has been given.

So sometimes all it takes is fine-tuning your input so that it’s easier for Rytr to determine what you want to generate.

2. Output is sometimes dry and lacks that human touch

Most of the things that Rytr puts out (even when set to the casual writing style) feel corporate and dry.

If your writing relies on the personal aspect of things, storytelling, and connecting with your audience then I don’t think it’s the best tool for you.

Sure you can use it to come up with ideas or rough outlines for your writing but it’s probably better to do the writing yourself.

Although this is probably a con of most if not all AI content generators, not only Rytr.

Was this Rytr Review useful?

All in all, Rytr is a fantastic companion for copywriting. If you run an online business that relies on writing a lot of text or constantly coming up with new ideas then Rytr is a tool that you probably won’t regret incorporating into your workflow (just make sure to look at it as a writing assistant and not an employee that writes full texts for you).

It has a lot of useful uses and can help you save time when it comes to generating keyword-rich content or ideating.

You can also utilize the generous free plan to see whether it suits your needs well.
